Why do Parasitic Twins look like Silverstein?

Silverstein Spill The Beans On Their Joke Band… Sort of.

Most of you already know that SILVERSTEIN are busy putting the final touches on their next full-length A Shipwreck In The Sand–however, you probably didn’t know that when they aren’t perfecting their unique brand of screamo, they’re goofing around with their side project PARASITIC TWINS. AP recently caught up with Silverstein bassist BILL HAMILTON to find out if you’ll be able to hear Parasitic Twins songs like “Entombed Or Cyanide Chrysalis” live anytime soon.

What’s the deal with Parasitic Twins?

Basically, [Silverstein drummer] Paul [Koehler] kind of has this joke band with a bunch of our friends; there’s a recording of one song– Neil [Boshart, guitar] sings on it and our guitar tech Kevin sings on it. There have also been a couple of shows where Silverstein have been playing and that band will end up playing a song with all of our friends. It’s kind of a thing where a bunch of guys just recorded some songs and all of our friends just went in and screamed on it or whatever. It’s a pretty good time.

Do you have any future plans for the band?

That band are always around whenever everyone is together and wants a laugh. We’ll play a song at a show and every once in a while those guys will get together and record something and hang out and jam, but it’s just one of those lingering joke-band things. We’ve always kind of joked around, too, about putting out a 7-inch with them, so there might be some more recordings with that band–including unwritten songs–in the future.

What are the songs about?

The songs are most definitely hilarious. I think you can read the lyrics on the MySpace. The whole concept of the band came from the name Parasitic Twins: The literal meaning of the name is conjoined twins and there’s, like, this whole dead sister… I don’t know, you can read about it more on the MySpace. It’s kind of hard to explain. –Jonah Bayer
