Swiss Army overcome the pressure of success with “On Top Of The World”

Swiss Army and Red City Radio vocalist Garrett Dale have teamed up on a new single, “On Top Of The World,” and they’re giving AP an exclusive first listen.

Following the release of their debut full-length, Paris Mountain, on A-F Records last year, the new track tackles both the excitement and pressure of achieving success.

“As we create and progress, with those come pressure, doubt and the feeling that at any point, the universe can swing its pendulum in the opposite direction, pulling everything back with it,” lead singer Brandon Lehman says. “Through that, I’ve learned that success isn’t final. It’s a battle won in embracing the victories to overcome the defeats.”

The band—Lehman, guitarist Dave Yarkovsky, drummer Chris Hawthorne and bassist Jeff Morgan—express that sentiment well with “On Top Of The World.” On the track, Lehman sings about how he’s balancing on a rope and feels like a single breath would be enough to make him falter and go under. Then, he notes that being too successful means there’s a further way to fall. Lehman just can’t seem to figure out if success or failure is a viable option, and that’s when Dale comes in. The song changes course and strips down to a guitar to emphasize his feature on the track, and an epic solo brings it to a close.

Paris Mountain is available for purchase and streaming here. “On Top Of The World” is available digitally on Bandcamp Sept. 6, but you can listen to it now below.
