The Rocket Summer follows joy while shining some “Morning Light”

Today AP is premiering the video for “Morning Light,” the second in a series of clips of songs from Sweet Shivers, the long-awaited album from Bryce Avary, the man behind perfect-pop-forever outfit the Rocket Summer.

Directed by Dillon Slack and Ben Busch, “Morning Light” is a prequel to the album’s first song, “Shatter Us.” Avary says the video “follows the journey of a flower from its birth to its home, chronicling the different lives that intersect along the way within the multilayered matrix of sorts that is the human experience.”

Indeed, Slack and Busch capture a feel-good “butterfly effect” scenario that includes but is not limited to: actress/dancer Brianna Brill (from the previous clip), a frustrated street artist, one semi-surly Uber driver and a cameo of Avary himself, busking in front of people on the sidewalk. The video is a great meditation on how something so seemingly insignificant has the capacity to travel through people’s lives and hopefully leave a reminder to pay that serendipity forward.

Sweet Shivers is slated for release Aug. 2 and can be preordered here. The Rocket Summer will embark on a North American tour Sept. 10 in Phoenix, Arizona, and tickets are available here.
