THE LIST ON AP: Back In Blink

We know you’re stoked about the Blink-182 reunion. We know that when you heard the news, you ran outside into the night in tighty-whiteys screaming the lyrics to "All The Small Things." Think you’re the only one? Blink are one of the most influential bands when it comes to today’s musical scene, and now that everyone’s had a few days to calm down and put pants back on, we asked some notable Blink fans how stoked they are. –Tim Karan

JEREMY McKINNON, A Day To Remember">

Enema Of The State, which changed my entire perception of the way pop-punk could sound. The three of us listened to mostly hardcore at the time, and though I’d heard Blink-182 before, none of their other records hit me the way this one did. It was energetic, catchy as hell, and the production on it was phenomenal! It wasn’t long before we were all singing along with the songs. We listened to the record nonstop for the duration of the trip and it quickly became the soundtrack to our summer. Seeing them on Warped Tour that summer was the highlight of the day for me. I’m excited for the chance to see those songs live again, and anxious to hear what they do next.’

and they managed to make amazing, relatable music. We were in Tokyo when we found out: Mike [Gentile, guitar] and I were in the middle of recording an acoustic set, and Jersey [Moriarty, bass], Alex [Lipshaw, guitar], Elliot [James, drums], and Duncan (our tour manager) were watching the Grammys in the next room. Right after Travis Barker announced it, Jersey ran in and told us. We wanted so badly to run around the streets celebrating. So instead, we finished the set, and then ran around celebrating! We’ll never forget that day.’

CASSADEE POPE, Hey Monday">

Enema Of The State when I was 11 and thinking that music couldn’t possibly get much better than this. Even though it did, I still consider that one of the best pop/rock albums of all time. If it weren’t for Blink, none of the bands in AP would be able to make a living playing the music they do. Unfortunately, I only got to experience the tail end of Blink’s career, so them getting back together gives me another chance to be a fan from the beginning… Kinda… ‘
DAVE MELILLO, Cute Is What We Aim For">

Dude Ranch came out when we were in 5th grade, and even at that age it wasn’t just about the songs ‘Dammit’ and ‘M&M’s,’ but it also transcended into finding out how many different ways we could wear Atticus, Macbeth and Famous Stars And Straps all in the same outfit. While one of us was trying to perfect the Travis Barker OCP drum kit with flattened cymbals, the others were lowering their guitar straps with their signature Mark and Tom guitars. After we perfected playing the whole Blink catalog, it gave us a sense of how to start writing songs ourselves.
Growing up in Southern California, it was easy to identify with Blink as they had the persona not of rock stars, but as three best friends having fun playing music they loved. We don’t need to embarrass ourselves by telling you every member’s middle name (including ex-drummer Scott Ansley Raynor), or the name of Travis Barker’s drum tech, or the screen name of their videographer (What up Cheetah?! Nm.. u? LOL.), or at which of the nine Sombrero’s locations in the greater San Diego area they actually ate or how many A Cursive Memory CDs we’ve handed them whenever we’ve had even the most desperate of opportunities, including when we were on last year’s Warped Tour with Tom. Speaking of which… Tom, you never got back to us! Anyway, we are excited to hear ‘Family Reunion’ on the reunion tour.’

super stoked to see Blink coming together again! They’ve been a huge influence for so many years, and honestly, without them, many of us might not have ever wanted to be in a band. We just hope that it sounds a little more like old-school Blink, and we will be pleased!’
