Trash Boat and AP are coming together to bring you the band’s music video for “Controlled Burn.”

The music video is a compilation of footage of the band throwing it down during several performances.

“The video represents the culmination of our live performance so far,” vocalist Tobi Duncan says. “How we’ve adapted our ‘close quarters’ style to fill out bigger rooms. We wanted to show our fans at their best, cutting loose and having as good of a time as we do every set.”

Beyond that, the track itself has a deeper meaning. Duncan reveals that the song addresses identifying issues in his own life and acknowledging what it will take to solve them.

“‘Controlled Burn’ is a song about responsibility, about recognizing all the problems in my life that are my own fault,” he explains. “All the things that are so easily fixed through not giving in to instant gratification. [It’s] so obvious in theory but rarely practiced.

“Humble yourself to your own choices and learn to make the ones that feed your future rather than your present,” Duncan continues. “Tear away a small piece to prevent the rest from falling apart. Control the burn before it gets to you.”

“Controlled Burn” is taken off the band’s most recent album, Crown Shyness, released last year via Hopeless Records.
