Tyler Posey's pop-punk band PVMNTS debut first track, "Standing (On My Own Two Feet)"

It was worth the wait: PVMNTS, the pop-punk/alt-rock outfit featuring actor Tyler Posey, have issued the first song from their impending EP, Better Days.

Posey wrote “Standing (On My Own Two Feet)” about the passing of his mother in 2014. He took those personal moments of extreme sadness and crafted a track that is both melancholy and optimistic.

“It’s basically about when you hit a point in your life where your life will change and there’s nothing you can do about it,” say the band in an email. “The only control that you have is deciding whether or not it’s going to fuck you up, or you take a positive route and do something good with what you’ve just been through.”

For Better Days (which the band will self-release Aug. 17), PVMNTS decided to go with a solid EP rather than go right out of the box with a full-length LP.

With only six songs to debut our sound, we wanted to make sure this little EP was as eclectic as possible,” the band say. “There’s lots of heavy emotion mixed with light-hearted and uplifting tunes.”

In addition to Posey (who starred in MTV’s Teen Wolf series for seven years), the trio also includes guitarist/bassist/vocalist Freddy Ramirez and drummer Nick Guzman.

PVMNTS recently rocked the crowds massively at this year’s Slam Dunk festival in the U.K.: If you’re out in Ventura, California, come June 24, you can see them rock the Ventura County Fairgrounds at the final Vans Warped Tour.
