UFC fighter Paige VanZant loves A Day To Remember, screams along while driving, is all of us

At 22, UFC fighter Paige VanZant is the third youngest fighter in the UFC, ranks No. 10 in the strawweight division and loves A Day To Remember.

“I'm a huge fan, I've actually been listening to them for a long time,” she says. “A lot of people don't know I listen to a lot of different genres of music and, A Day To Remember, I've been a fan of since I was in middle school.”

Like many, she is no stranger to car-ride sing-alongs, and she has the video to prove it.

“I was just with my friend in the car and, I don’t know, we're just two chicks who like A Day To Remember and we were just singing it, and I thought it was really funny and I thought I should share a video,” she says of the video.

Along with “1958,” her favorites include “If It Means A Lot To You” and  “Have Faith In Me.” Around the same time she got into ADTR, she was into a few other scene favorites.

“When I was in middle school I listened to a little more punky music,” VanZant says. “I liked Panic! At The Disco, [they] were huge when I was in middle school, [and] Fall Out Boy. YouTube was just coming out when I was in middle school, that's when I used to look up songs and one song would lead to another I'd like.”

And while she still rocks out to A Day To Remember, her musical tastes are eclectic.

“I listen to a lot of hip-hop music but that's pretty much just when I'm training; that's the music that gets me in the zone to fight,” she says. “Outside of that, I listen to a lot of country, Christian music, pop music.”

But when it comes to gearing up for a fight, VanZants genre of choice is hip-hop.

“Hip-hop really gets me in the ‘fight mode,’ I guess. I've walked out to Yelawolf—that was my first walk-up song—and then I had a bunch of random [hip-hop songs],” she says.

And the same goes for her training playlist. “Biggie Smalls, Tupac, whatever's just new in hip-hop nowadays, I'll just put on a really good hip-hop station and let it play,” she says.

You might also recognize VanZant from her deep run on the popular television show Dancing with the Stars, which she finished as runner-up with her partner Mark Ballas. As far as her next trip to the Octagon, that comes tomorrow night with UFC Fight Night: Maia vs Condit, where she'll take o Austrailian fighter Bec Rawlings. The fight, which takes place in Vancouver, will air live on FOX with the main card beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Tickets are available here.
