Weathers dance away their “Problems” in new video—watch

Weathers rereleased “Problems” earlier this month, and now the Los Angeles-based alt act are teaming up with AP to premiere the video.

The clip is co-produced and directed by 21-year-old frontman Cameron Boyer. The vocalist took feelings of lingering depression and used it as a driving force behind the video’s concept.

“Even when things are going pretty OK, you can still be depressed,” he explains. “Sometimes it just goes that way, and that’s what this video is about. It’s three different situational experiences: Coming into a fortune, being the underdog and persevering and desperately searching for a connection anywhere you can find it. But ultimately [you’re] still being depressed because even when you get what you want, your life is still a mess and so is your head. ‘Problems’ has an upbeat and [a] ‘I don’t care ’cause some things cannot be fixed’ sound to it, so we wanted to reflect that in the video.”

The band—Boyer (vocals/rhythm guitar), Cameron Olsen (guitar/vocals), Cole Carson (drums/vocals) and Brennen Bates (bass/keys/vocals)—brainstormed together when coming up with the concept.

“I took our best three ideas and focused the concept into four chapters,” Boyer says. “Then, I put together shot lists, found the right actors, did the prep work and even choreographed the dance at the end. Then, over five days of shooting, I directed the video and then edited for the next week after that.”

While the video had a framework guided by the chapters, the band still tossed in something extra special for fans.

“The video also has some fun little Easter eggs sprinkled throughout,“ Boyer shares. “Only true fans of the band will catch them.”

See if you can spot the Easter eggs in the “Problems” video below.

“Problems” follows Weathers’ Kids In The Night, which is available now. The band are currently out with Palaye Royale and have a handful of shows with the Stolen and ONE OK ROCK throughout the summer. A full list of shows is available below with tickets here.
