10 actors who should be Wednesday in Tim Burton's 'Addams Family' show

It was recently confirmed that the spotlight would be on Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s upcoming live-action TV reboot of The Addams Family, directed by Tim Burton

The show, titled Wednesday, is a coming-of-age comedy series that focuses solely on the dark-haired girl with a personality to match. Deadline reports that the live-action series follows Wednesday’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

While there, she tries to understand her emerging psychic ability, prevent a massive killing spree in her local town and solve the supernatural mystery that involved her parents 25 years ago. During all of this, she must also explore new and sometimes complicated relationships.

Back in October, Burton fans rejoiced as reports emerged that the director was working on an Addams Family reboot exclusively for television. However, we soon learned that this new live-action series isn’t the reboot they may have been expecting, hinting that the project would center around Wednesday.

On Feb. 17, Netflix unveiled the mysterious first look at the new show. The official poster shows Wednesday strumming away on a cello with a knife in hand.

In light of the exciting news, we decided to pick 10 actors who would be perfect fits to play the angsty young girl with the braids who has inspired Halloween costumes for decades. You can check out who we picked below.

Adelaide Kane

Adelaide Kane has starred in Teen Wolf, Once Upon A Time and Reign, so she’s familiar with the supernatural, fantasy side of Hollywood. The actor bears a striking resemblance to Wednesday and could definitely pull off the resting pissed-off face on screen.

Miranda Cosgrove

OK, try to argue that the iCarly star isn’t the perfect pick, resemblance-wise. Miranda Cosgrove fits the part. Plus, it could be part of her re-introduction to the world of acting as she reprises her role on the upcoming reboot of the Nickelodeon show.

Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega has played her fair share of spooky roles. She’s starred in Netflix productions such as You and The Babysitter: Killer Queen in addition to her work in Jane The Virgin, Stuck In The Middle and more. She already has the Netflix connections, so we could definitely see her taking on the angsty character in a coming-of-age story.

Millie Bobby Brown

We had to do it. Ever since the first season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has become the Meryl Streep of child actors, especially for supernatural dramas. She has the expression down and has exemplified her ability to deliver dark humor while playing Eleven, so it seems like the perfect fit.

Dafne Keen

Dafne Keen, known for her roles in The Refugees and Logan, is another teen actor who could be a dead ringer for Wednesday. She has the dark, edgy look and the experience to make this role her own. It would make her instantly recognizable in the mainstream acting realm.

Kiernan Shipka

Our Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina fave could knock this role out of the park. She already has the Netflix connections and has proven her ability to be a powerhouse leading lady. As die-hard fans, we can only hope that Kiernan Shipka takes this role and runs with it.

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi, known for her roles in Black-ish, Grown-ish and The Sun Is Also A Star, is a powerhouse model and actor who knows how to make a role all her own. She’s young, outspoken and could totally embody Wednesday’s creepy and independent attitude.

Hailee Steinfeld

At 13 years old, singer and actor Hailee Steinfeld played her first major role as the pigtailed Mattie Ross in True Grit, who could be the country version of Wednesday Addams. She has a lot of attitude and an inherent coolness factor that anyone who plays Wednesday would need, so it’d definitely be a fitting pick.

Emily Robinson

Transparent and Eighth Grade star Emily Robinson has the acting chops to tackle this role. She exudes power, inner strength and innocence to take the role of Wednesday that everyone expects and completely flip it around.

Lily Collins

Lily Collins has already played a serial killer’s wife, so there’s no reason that she couldn’t embody a dark, sinister character all her own. She has starred in several coming-of-age stories as well that prove she can bring both the emotion and the attitude that Wednesday requires.

Let us know in the comments who your dream star would be for Netflix’s forthcoming Wednesday.
