10 unlikely tour lineups that actually make total sense
While bands tend to pick opening acts that fit the vibe of their show, some tour collaborations have come straight from left field—or so you thought.February 19, 2020
We’re a sucker for a concert announcement from our favorite artists, especially if the entire lineup for the show is stacked. While bands tend to pick opening acts that fit the vibe of their show, some touring collaborations have come straight from left field.
While it might shock some fans, many of these lineups actually make total sense. Head below for pending tours and ones that have already happened that make more sense than you’d think.
1. A Day To Remember and Slipknot
#KNOTFESTRoadshow returns to North America May 30 – June 25, 2020 featuring Slipknot, A Day To Remember, Underoath and Code Orange. OT9 Fan Club pre-sales start today at 12pm. Tickets & VIP Packages on-sale this Friday, February 7 at 10am here: https://t.co/GrA4MZdkqf pic.twitter.com/XBVg0leSeL

2. Lil Wayne and blink-182
Stoked to announce our summer tour with @LilTunechi and special guest @NeckDeepuk! Pre-sale starts tomorrow at 10am. Tix available everywhere Friday. #blink182 #lilwayne https://t.co/t8U2rGFXyi pic.twitter.com/sdXYb5BHv2

When blink-182 revealed they’d be doing a co-headlining tour with Lil Wayne in honor of Enema Of The State’s 20th anniversary, a lot of heads turned. While the tour itself had a few bumps in the road, the artists actually go way back, and the mashup ended up working, with both artists putting on a hell of a show.
3. Avril Lavigne and Silverstein
4. Halsey and Pale Waves
Halsey just dropped her latest album Manic and already started her world tour in support, with the help of indie rockers Pale Waves. The mashup is unlikely considering Halsey’s mega-status in the pop world, but it shows that she stays true to her scene roots.
5. Badflower and Incubus

Badflower shocked fans when they announced they would be hitting the road this summer to support Incubus and 311 on their upcoming joint tour. It was definitely unexpected, but those shows will no doubt be a massive party.
6. 5 Seconds Of Summer and the Chainsmokers

The 5 Seconds Of Summer and the Chainsmokers tour announcement resulted in the band receiving some serious hate online that definitely wasn’t cool. Nonetheless, this mashup proved they’re a match made in heaven when they dropped “Who Do You Love,” and they also rocked those live shows.
7. Miley Cyrus and Metro Station
Ah 2009, a simpler time when Metro Station opened for Miley Cyrus’ headlining tour, and all was right with the world. But seriously, this tour actually happened, and while it might seem weird to some, it makes sense considering frontman Trace is Miley’s brother, and he met bandmate Mason Musso on the set of Hannah Montana. The fall 2009 run even gave us an epic onstage collab.
8. Every Time I Die and Fall Out Boy

A few years ago, hardcore band Every Time I Die joined Machine Gun Kelly in opening for scene icons Fall Out Boy for a handful of their M A N I A tour dates. It definitely isn’t a lineup we’d expect to see, but who wouldn’t love to see both of these bands live on the same night?
9. 3OH!3 and lil aaron
My People! We’re celebrating the 10- year anniversary of our first album WANT by bringing the party to a city near you with our friends at Emo Nite & lil Aaron. Check the dates. Pre sale info coming soon. pic.twitter.com/52Y6JENcSq

Thanks to Emo Nite LA, music fans got to see both 3OH!3 and lil aaron live on the same night for a the WANT House Party tour. While it’s a surprising lineup at first, both of these artists definitely complement each other with catchy, crowd-pleasing hits. Plus, given 3OH!3 started as a fan project to play at friends’ parties, the Emo Nite LA DJ-driven setting made total sense.
