Which Bamboozle California performances will the bands be watching?

We know a ton of you are going to BAMBOOZLE CALIFORNIA this weekend at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. But there’s a whole different audience–the performers themselves–who will also be at the show looking to see artists they can’t wait to watch. So who are members of Never Shout Never, Pierce The Veil, the Maine and more stoked to see?

SOMETHING CORPORATE were one of my favorite bands during high school, and to be able to share the stage with them will be a great honor–especially since they haven’t played together in so long. Who didn’t have a breakup that “Konstantine” helped them get through? I’m really excited to check out PIEBALD’s set, as well. They’re another great band I grew up listening to. [2002’s] We Are The Only Friends We Have is such a classic record, and I hear they’re playing the whole thing!

I'm actually excited to see ORIANTHI. I don't care what anyone says about her music. I don't care who likes it and who doesn't. She can shred and loves her instrument and that's awesome. Anyone who loves their instrument with their entire being is okay by me.

Story Of The Year

I'm so excited to see SOMETHING CORPORATE. They were one of the first bands to really get me into this “scene” of music and played a major role in my teenage years. I got to see them five years ago, and I'm so stoked to see them again–let alone play on the same stage as them. Andrew McMahon has always been one of my favorite lyricists and is a major influence on a lot of our writing.

I’m very excited to see AFI play. Mike [Fuentes, drums] and I used to cover songs from [1996’s] Very Proud Of Ya when we were in high school. I went on a snowboarding trip once and saw them play at an ice rink. I definitely asked Hunter [Burgan, bass] for an autograph that night. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I guess AFI just have a special place in our punk-rock hearts.

AFI

I'm excited to see SOMETHING CORPORATE. Back in 2002, I would listen to Leaving Through The Window every day. I've actually never seen them live, so I'm glad we get to play Bamboozle with them this year.

I'm excited to see CIRCA SURVIVE because I think they're one of the most genuine bands in music right now. They're real artists. We toured with them back in 2007 on the first-ever AP Tour, and they taught us a lot about how to go about our personal lives as artists and keeping things together as a band. I'll never forget that tour for that reason. I spoke to our good friend [Circa Survive guitarist Brendan Ekstrom] at SXSW. He told me [Blue Sky Noise] just feels different than anything he's ever worked on. Aside from Circa, even though I'm currently on tour with them, I'm still excited to watch TWIN ATLANTIC. I'm confident they'll be the band that people haven't heard of yet, walk by the stage, and end up going home with a new favorite album.

I'm really excited to see SOMETHING CORPORATE. I've been a fan for years, and I have yet to hear them live. They were one of the first piano-driven bands I started listening to. Then I got really into Jack’s Mannequin later on. I've heard nothing but great things about their live show, so I really can't wait!

Honestly, the artist I'm most excited to see is JONNY CRAIG. Regardless of our past, I think it’s really neat to see your friends progress and become successful in this industry. Plus, I'm a fan of Tides Of Man, who are Jonny's backing band. They’re all awesome musicians. It should be a sweet set!

I'm really looking forward to see ANGELS & AIRWAVES. I've been a fan of theirs for a few years now and haven't had the chance to see them live. I'm a big fan of [frontman] Tom DeLonge's work from the early Blink-182 days to Boxcar Racer and now AVA. I've liked everything that guy has been a part of. Just having the opportunity to play this festival with them is something that really excites me.

Angels & Airwaves

I was so stoked to hear that SOMETHING CORPORATE were going to be on this year's lineup. I remember going to their shows when I was younger and seeing Andrew McMahon rock out on the piano. Even better was watching all the couples make out to “Konstantine” [from 2003’s Songs For Silent Movies EP]. Their music is influential to bands all over the country and will continue to be for decades. Everyone has been waiting to see them come back and tear up the stage, and I'm just glad they picked this year to do it.

I'm most excited to see SOMETHING CORPORATE. They've been one of my favorite bands since my freshman year of high school, and I've been listening to them and Jack's Mannequin ever since. I actually didn't even know they were playing until today when I looked at the lineup. It’ll be really awesome to see them basically play their hometown show. I'm excited to see a few other bands as well, especially CIRCA SURVIVE and SAY ANYTHING. We don't ever really get to play with those kinds of bands, since we’re a heavy band, but that's the type of music I'm generally into.

We can't wait to see FRANK AND DEROL. Those girls are talented. They represent. Codi Caraco [vocals/keyboard] has an amazing voice and when she and Brandi [Cyrus, guitar/vocals] harmonize, it's heart melting–and it gets you moving! It’s like you're bouncing on a cloud and hearing angel melodies over dancey beats. No joke, I actually have one of their songs stuck in my head right now.

We have the luxury of playing both Bamboozle and Bamboozle California this year, so this list could get long. But the main highlight would be CIRCA SURVIVE. We toured with those guys in the U.K. and have stayed good friends, so it’ll be cool to hear some of [Blue Sky Noise] live.
SAM McTRUSTY
Twin Atlantic

I want to see SOMETHING CORPORATE because their reunion is an epic, big deal, and it's gonna be crazy. I also want to see Iyaz. It's super-cool to me that Bamboozle has some mainstream pop from the Top 40 world on the show. Diversity is what makes Bamboozle great!
JORDAN WITZIGREUTER
The Ready Set

I’m most excited to see CIRCA SURVIVE and SAY ANYTHING. I feel those bands are the most similar in mindset to what I like to see in a band. Say Anything and Circa Survive will be a breath of fresh air among the California lineup.
MARK VENTURA
All The Day Holiday

We’re definitely most excited to see SOMETHING CORPORATE. They're playing the same day as us. [Codi Caraco and I] listened to them throughout middle school and high school and attended several shows. Their songs bring back such crazy memories. I hope they play “I Woke Up In A Car.” It’s just so classic, and we can imagine that most of the audience will be singing along to every word. It’s such a great feeling to be in a huge crowd of people who are so different, yet everyone connects in the moment of loving a song. I know Codi [Caraco] and I will definitely be singing along and having high school flashbacks!
BRANDI CYRUS

Max Bemis has been a huge influence in my life, so I'm looking forward to SAY ANYTHING. Bemis' flamethrower mouth and honest lyrics inspired me to write and perform real songs of my own.

Max Bemis of Say Anything

It’ll be nice to see our good friends in AFI, STORY OF THE YEAR, ANGELS & AIRWAVES, CIRCA SURVIVE and ORIANTHI. I’m also looking forward to seeing THE BOUNCING SOULS, who were my very first punk rock concert.
BOBBY ALT
Street Drum Corps

I used to sit and learn Andrew McMahon's piano parts all the time. I met him once when I was in eighth grade and told him I learned one of his piano solos and he told me I was probably better than he was. He's an awesome performer and puts on a great show. It's also just such a cool feeling seeing SOMETHING CORPORATE do a reunion show after not playing together for years. Can’t wait!
