FEVER 333 write, record and release new track in 24 hours

When Jason Aalon Butler gets a wild idea, there’s no stopping him. So when he summoned the rest of FEVER 333 to turn over a track from writing to releasing in 24 hours, the work got done, in the form of “Presence Is Strength.”

Earlier this week, Butler–inspired and stoked by the Super Tuesday primaries across America–brought “Presence is Strength” into fruition. Butler, producer John Feldmann, guitarist Stephen Harrison and drummer Aric Improta succeeded in bringing the urgent and percolating track into the world in time for Tuesday primary elections in 14 U.S. states.

In addition to the call-to-action cry of “Presence is Strength,” Butler also released a new solo track, “Bulletproof.” Although it’s a slower, more textured affair, Butler brings the menace with his rapping skills, ahead of a melodic verse.

Posting on his Instagram feed Wednesday, Butler furthered his need to make his art and his political statement inseparable. “Due to the process, I feel they were more than just music,” Butler said. “I feel [the songs] exhibit the capabilities we have and what we can achieve even when it seems like something we can’t or even something we ‘shouldn’t.’ The only way I could have accomplished getting these tracks out was to believe I could and that I should. So that’s what I did.

“I guess what I’m trying to say is, please do not allow these limiting constructs that have been put in place [stop] you from at least fuckin trying to make shit happen. Create. Attempt. Dare. Risk. Whatever. We can do a lot more than they’ve led us to believe. Let’s do it. Whatever it is.⁣”

The two new tracks are the follow-ups to the 2019 FEVER 333 singles, “Vandals” and “Kingdom.” Butler also joined the Used in the studio, duetting with Bert McCracken on the track “Blow Me.”

At the end of “Presence Is Strength,” Butler reminds listeners, “The only way to be heard is to speak up! Use your voice amidst all the noise.” Here’s hoping more people hear it before the primaries are through. Check out both tracks below.
