Former Cro-mags bassist speaks out about stabbing arrest, claims self-defense

Former Cro-Mags bassist Harley Flanagan has spoken out about the alleged stabbing that occurred on July 6 at CBGB Fest at Webster Hall in New York.

Flanagan told NY Natives that, though most outlets report that he had gone on “a rampage,” he was actually acting in self defense behind a closed door without witnesses.

“I ended up getting dragged out into the balcony area, which is where everybody says the mêlée took place but no the mêlée took place in the dressing room behind a locked door where I was getting jumped people by myself”

Flanagan says that he was invited to the dressing room, where he was jumped:

“When I saw that door get pulled shut ['to keep security out'] I was literally fighting for my life. I was afraid these guys were going to kick me half to death, roll me down the back steps and that no one would see it… and there would be no witnesses and that would be that…”

He compares the alleged attack to “an old fashion biker beat down” and says “what [he] did was defend [his] life.”
