Hatebreed - For The Lions

For The Lions

What would a Hatebreed album consisting entirely of covers sound like? Well, here it is, and it's pretty much what you'd expect. For The Lions is a tribute to the bands who got Jamey Jasta and crew pumped back in the day before Hatebreed got their start-and there is some truly great source material. Hatebreed tear through Agnostic Front's "Your Mistake" like they wrote it; Madball's "Set It Off" gets a modern facelift but still comes correct; hell, the band's version of "Thirsty" by Black Flag is head and shoulders above the original. It's impossible to argue with any of the choices: Every band represented on For The Lions are hardcore legends, and Hatebreed do their songs justice–they just don't deliver anything in the way of innovation.
