Frank Iero just opened up about MCR's delayed return tour plans—watch

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fans are still anxiously waiting to see My Chemical Romance hit the stage for their upcoming return tour.

Now, Frank Iero has revealed how he feels about MCR having to delay their return tour. As it turns out, the band seemingly had a lot of things going on behind-the-scenes before the pandemic hit.

Back in December 2019, My Chemical Romance surprised the music world when they reunited for that historic show in Los Angeles. Shortly after, the band announced that they are taking their reunion on the road for their first U.S. tour in nine years. Of course, it’s came as no surprise that the entire tour sold out in under six hours as fans desperately tried to get tickets.

However, as the COVID crisis hit early last year, My Chemical Romance’s tour plans quickly became unrealistic. By mid-2020, the JapanAustralia, New ZealandEurope, the U.K. and U.S. tours were all postponed.

As it stands, My Chemical Romance’s return tour is set to kick off on June 15 in the U.K. Now, Frank Iero has finally opened up about My Chemical Romance hitting the pause button on their highly-anticipated tour.

During a recent interview with At The Drive-In‘s Jim Ward, Iero reveals that the band actually had a lot of things planned. Despite this, he can’t wait to finally perform on stage with his MCR bandmates again soon.

“I can’t wait, man,” Iero says. “I really can’t. It’s such a weird experience to be like, ‘hey alright all of this stuff that we’ve been working towards and these well-made plans,’ and all of a sudden it’s like, ‘ah hurry up and wait.’ But it happens…The play is to make it seem like you didn’t put any work in, you didn’t prepare for anything like fucking James Dean. You just want to be cool without even trying.”

As the days tick away until the highly-anticipated start of MCR’s return tour, Iero is managing to stay very busy. Shortly after revealing he did a guitar swap with Slayer‘s Gary Holt, Iero confirmed he has plenty of new musical projects in the works. Earlier this year, Frank Iero and The Future Violents unveiled their latest, and possibly last, EP Heaven Is A Place, This Is A Place.

As well, the Used‘s Jeph Howard seemingly confirmed those MCR tour rumors were true after all. Last month, Howard explained that the Used were really supposed to open for a few My Chemical Romance return shows. However, it’s still unknown if they will be joining the tour sometime this year.
