Frank Iero reacts to this Leathermouth demo CD resurfacing

Sometimes, it can be hard to keep up with Frank Iero‘s musical projects. Although he is well known for his role in My Chemical Romance, Iero has shown off his talents in various other bands over the years.

This week, Gallows drummer Lee Barratt rediscovered an old demo from Iero’s hardcore punk group LeATHERMOUTH and Iero is reacting to the discovery.

For those that don’t know, Iero joined LeATHERMOUTH back in the mid-2000s. In 2009, LeATHERMOUTH released their first, and only, album XO. The 10-track LP features “This Song Is About Being Attacked By Monsters,” “Leviathan” and “Bodysnatchers 4 Ever.”

A year after the album’s release, however, Iero announced they were disbanding after the other members found spiritual enlightenment.

“There’s still part of me that would hate not doing that band again,” he said. “There’s something brewing, but I don’t know what it is. I really wanted that band to go on longer, but Jesus had other plans.”

Then, in 2013, LeATHERMOUTH reunited for a one-off performance at New Jersey’s Skate and Surf Festival. Shortly after, however, they disbanded again. Most recently, back in 2018, Iero announced that XO was finally getting pressed onto vinyl.

Now, it looks like a LeATHERMOUTH demo has resurfaced. This week, Gallows drummer Lee Barratt took to Twitter to share that he discovered the old demo. According to Barratt, Iero gave him the demo at a festival.

It is unknown if the five-track CD includes only XO demos or if it has songs LeATHERMOUTH never released.

Following Barratt’s tweet, Iero briefly responded to the news of the resurfaced LeATHERMOUTH demo.

Along with MCR and LeATHERMOUTH, Iero has been involved in various other musical projects throughout his career. Currently, he is focused on Frank Iero And The Future Violents. The projects released its debut full-length album Barriers last year.

As well, Frank Iero And The Patience and frnkiero andthe cellabration are two of his other successful projects over the years. Back in June, he revealed that frnkiero andthe cellabration’s debut album Stomachaches is being repressed into a limited edition vinyl.

While Iero continues to work on his ongoing projects, MCR are also preparing to embark on their rescheduled reunion tour next year. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, they were forced to postpone their 2020 shows until next year. Since then, My Chemical Romance have announced the new dates for the U.S., U.K., Europe and New Zealand legs of the tour.

Of course, LeATHERMOUTH fans have a lot of feelings about the resurfaced demo.
