The World Series captures the hearts of America every year as they root for their favorite teams. But thanks to Taco Bell, it’s also capturing our stomachs with the promise of free food.

Since 2007, Taco Bell has run a promotion called “Steal A Base, Steal A Taco.” The terms are quite simple, and probably exactly what you’re thinking. During the World Series, if a player manages to steal a base then the whole country gets free Doritos Locos Tacos. After securing a stolen base in Game 1, the free tacos are finally here.

This year, Washington Nationals player Trea Turner stole a base as his team faced off with the Houston Astros on Oct. 22.

Turner took his stolen base a step further and continued his pledge to donate money to cancer research.

“Speed on the base paths is an important aspect of my game,” Turner writes on his PledgeIt page. “Speed is also critical in finding cures for cancer. That’s why I’ll be donating $500 for every steal this season to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.”

Each person is limited to one free Doritos Locos Taco per person, regardless of how many bases are stolen during the series, and it can be obtained at Taco Bell Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. only. You can also order through the mobile app or online with a registered Taco Bell account. More information is available here.

Last year, Mookie Betts stole a base for the Red Sox during Game 1, solidifying free tacos for everyone. Betts joined fellow Red Sox and first taco-winning base stealer Jacoby Ellsbury, who secured the promo in 2007. The promo played out five more times in 2008, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017. This 2019 steal marks the eighth time the country gets free tacos.
