Geoff Rickly poisoned, robbed outside show in Germany

No Devotion frontman Geoff Rickly was rushed to a hospital in Hamburg, Germany, after being robbed and poisoned outside the Rock Cafe St. Pauli, the venue the band were to have played on Friday as part of the Reeperbahn Festival lineup.

Rickly posted to the No Devotion Instagram account, “Just a little note to say that I was poisoned and robbed (outside our Reeperbahn Festival on Friday) and spent the night recovering in Hamburg. I'm recovering and will be in Paris tonight.”

Seasoned travelers say these types of crimes (poisoning someone's drink and then waiting for the effects to kick in order to rob them) targeting tourists are quite frequent. The band's show was cancelled; Rickly has checked out of the hospital in Hamburg and resuming No Devotion's European dates.

In June 2013, Rickly was mugged at gunpoint in New York City and had cash, ID and personal effects stolen from him.
