This past year has truly been a difficult time for many individuals around the world. According to the CDC, the COVID-19 crisis has greatly impacted people's mental health, substance abuse and suicidal thoughts due to the stress and isolation the pandemic has caused. Recent research shows that by June 2020, 40 percent of U.S. adults reported struggling with mental health and substance abuse during COVID-19 lockdown measures.

So, the Unwound & Unplugged virtual event really couldn't arrive at a better time. To help celebrate the National Day Of Unplugging, Gerard Way is coming together with Julien Baker and DeathbyRomy for the special concert. The event, which kicks off on Mar. 2 at 5 P.M. PT/ 8 P.M. ET, will feature a live discussion panel as well as musical performances.

Along with some stripped-down performances, Way, Baker and DeathbyRomy will open up about their own mental health battles, dealing with isolation and how meaningful social connections are more important than ever. They will also be joined by a panel of mental health experts who will discuss good self-care practices and resources for dealing with isolation and anxiety.

"I know that it's a really tough time for everyone right now," Way says. "Coming together as a community and speaking openly about mental health is more relevant than ever. "
