Back in April 2017, four previous Ghost members filed a lawsuit against Forge for “missing wages and allowances for several years.”

Simon Soderberg, Mauro Rubinho, Henrik Palm and Martin Hjertstedt sued Forge for 200,000 Swedish Krona, which is roughly equivalent to $22,200, for unpaid compensation.

In October, a Swedish court dismissed the lawsuit. Plus, the musicians were ordered to pay the legal fees Forge acquired from the case. As reported by Blabbermouth, Forge received  $146,000 in legal fees from them.

Now, Loudwire is reporting the former Ghost members are seeking a new trial. According to a report from Swedish outlet NT.se, the musicians believe the judge had a conflict of interest.

Judge Henrik Ibold, who was part of the case during the district court trial, is a member of the Swedish Order of Freemasons, which Forge is also a part of.

Attorney Michael Berg filed an appeal on behalf of the musicians, arguing that Ibold was “disloyal.”

“For Henrik Ibold, it must almost have been impossible to objectively and impartially assess the probative value of the information that Tobias Forge has left,” Berg explained in the appeal, per Loudwire.

The judge denies the connection with Forge, saying he didn’t know the Ghost frontman was a member of the order.

“On the other hand, I had heard some rumors that it could be so,” he told NT.se.
