Grimes just used poetry to weigh in on Reddit's GameStop stocks ploy

It looks like Grimes has a few things to say about Reddit‘s GameStop stocks ploy that stunned Wall Street last week.

The singer recently shared some original poetry inspired by the situation that has captivated the internet, shocked hedge funds and reportedly inspired a new film.

Last week, the Reddit thread r/WallStreetBets encouraged people to pile into GameStop’s stocks in an effort to stun Wall Street firms who were betting those stocks would fall. As a result, financial apps such as Robinhood seemingly began supporting hedge funds and temporarily banning individuals from buying those stocks to keep them from losing more money.

During the sudden GameStop stocks surge last week, it was estimated that hedge funds lost billions of dollars.

The whole ordeal led to a slew of reactions including comparisons to Bella Thorne‘s OnlyFans. In particular, Elon Musk was an early supporter of the Reddit thread that caused all of this to happen. He not only tweeted a link to the thread as things began to unfold but then further explained why he is in support of the group’s actions.

On Jan. 28, he posted a tweet saying hedge funds shouldn’t be allowed to control the financial apps that blocked people from buying any more stocks. Their attempts to make those stocks plummet so they wouldn’t lose any more money is wrong and a “scam.”

Now, it looks like his partner Grimes is weighing in on Reddit’s stocks ploy. She recently tweeted some “financial poetry” to her 1.1 million Twitter followers.

“In the vast ocean / My tear is a drop / My dollar a single photon / Of the light of GameStop.”

Along with inspiring some interesting poetry from Grimes, the stock market saga is reportedly being turned into a movie. According to Deadline, a film depicting the events of the GameStop stocks surge is in the works after MGM acquired a book proposal from author Ben Mezrich.

The book is currently titled The Antisocial Network and was placed on the market at the end of last week. Then, on Friday, Jan. 29, MGM acquired the rights to turn the book into a film. So far, no specific details regarding the book or movie plans have been announced.

For Grimes, she has been revealing quite a bit to fans over the past few days. During a recent fan Q&A, she explained that her new album is almost complete. Although Grimes plans to release new music in the next two months, she explained why it could be even longer before fans get to hear the material.

On Jan. 28, she also gave an update to a fan on Twitter. Despite contracting COVID-19 and breaking her arm, she is still working on completing her record and the accompanying visuals.

“Finishing record and making the visuals, I also broke my arm and got covid and a bunch of other stuff. Hang w x but I guess I should return to the digital realm.”
