Other Halestorm news

Recently, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm gushed about her band and what singing means to her that was absolutely heartwarming.

Hale made the statements in an interview by Planet Rock at Download Festival.

She discussed what it means to her to be able to deliver strong performances vocally.

“I can count on less than five fingers the things I can do well, so I’m just going to stick to those,” Hale said. “It’s literally all I’ve ever wanted to do in life is sing and play and get out there and rock. It’s very humbling to hear that kind of feedback.”

She also talked about the band’s set at Download and how special it was.

“It was awesome. My little bro and I had this kind of moment together because we’ve been in Halestorm since we were teenagers,” she said. “It’s been like 22 years of Halestorm— don’t do the math. … But it’s been a long time.”

“When we were in middle school and all of our teachers said, ‘This is a stupid idea. Why are you going into music? Especially rock and roll. There’s no guarantee and you should really do something else as a backup plan,’” she continued. “We were, like, ‘Hell no! We’re not doing that.’ My little bro turns to me right before we go on: ‘Hey, look at those people out there. There’s a sea of people.’ It proves yes, we were crazy, but we were not stupid and this was a good idea. This is all the life that we need.”

Hale also revealed why she always wears high heels on stage even though she knows she’s bound to fall sooner or later.

“In 2011, I think we were out with, I think it was Hellyeah and Staind. The guys in that band literally bought me Chuck Taylors because they got kind of sick of me walking around in heels,” Hale said.

“So, they’re, like, ‘Please, for a couple of shows, wear Chuck Taylors.’ That was the one and only time… I wore Chuck Taylor’s for a couple shows and the second show I wore the Chuck Taylors, that was the one and only time I fell onstage. I haven’t really bit it onstage in high heels yet. It will happen. It’s not about if, it’s about when.”
