There’s a ‘Hocus Pocus’ nod in ‘Halloweentown II’ you probably missed

With Halloween just weeks away, many of us are curling up to watch some of our favorite spooky films. Now, one Halloweentown fan has noticed a nod to Hocus Pocus in the Disney film.

The fan spotted a massive Easter egg in Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge that could mean the two films aren’t so different from each other.

Even though we pretend Return To Halloweentown doesn’t exist, the Halloweentown movies still remain some of the most popular Halloween films to date. As well, Hocus Pocus is one of the most beloved spooky season films of our time.

However, are the Sanderson Sisters and Aggie and Marnie Cromwell that different from each other? According to one TikToker, no. @lyssalyssalyssahh on TikTok recently rewatched the first three Halloweentown films. During the Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, however, they noticed a massive Easter egg that has been overlooked for years.

Towards the end of the film, all of the lackluster grey Halloweentown citizens are transformed back into their colorful selves. One particular witch returns back into her old self while wearing the exact costume worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus.

@lyssalyssalyssahh thinks that this Hocus Pocus Easter egg could mean that both of the films are actually set in the same universe.

Hocus Pocus debuted back in 1993 while Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge premiered in 2001. The inclusion of Sarah Sanderson‘s costume in Halloweentown could just be a nod to the iconic film. However, it also could mean that both franchises take place in the same universe, just at different times.

We may just have to wait and see if this theory gets addressed in the highly-anticipated Hocus Pocus sequel.
