At the end of January, Halsey shared some stunning photos confirming she is pregnant. Since the announcement, Halsey has managed to stay very busy. Now, Halsey has offered an update on her pregnancy. In a new Instagram post, she opens up on how her pregnancy has altered her perception of gender. As well, she reveals that her views on body image have changed over the past few months.

“I’ve been thinking lots about my body,” she says. “It’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly. I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely. My sensitivity to my body has made me hyper-aware of my humanness and that’s all. Doing a remarkable thing. And it’s grand. I hope the feeling lasts. I cook a lot, sleep even more, and read lotssss of books. I miss my family. And you guys too! bye for now.”

Over the years, Halsey has been open about her experiences with reproductive health and fertility. Back in 2016, she confirmed she has endometriosis, a condition that is known for impacting fertility in some individuals. Then, in 2017, she underwent a series of “terrifying surgeries” to help treat her endometriosis. More recently, Halsey told Zane Lowe last year how her experiences inspired the song “More,” off of her latest album Manic.

Shortly after sharing her pregnancy photos on Instagram, she referred to her baby as “my rainbow” on Twitter. “Rainbow baby” is typically a term used to describe a newborn that arrives after a series of miscarriages, stillborns and other pregnancy complications.
