'Harry Potter' mobile game unveils release date in epic new trailer

It has felt like an eternity of waiting while we stood, wands ready, waiting for the release of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The game is slated to serve as a follow-up to Niantic’s viral Pokemon GO mobile game. While the game was released in some parts of the world as a sort of beta-type test, the U.S. and UK were stuck waiting for their turn in the wizarding world.

Now, an official release date has been revealed via an epic and intense new trailer.

As previously reported, the Harry Potter app is co-developed by Warner Bros. Interactive and its new sub-brand Portkey Games, and like “Pokemon Go,” players should be able to “roam the real world collecting power-ups, defending locations and exploring their environment.”

Back in November, we were given our first official trailer, giving us some kind of idea as to the game’s storyline.

The story will focus on the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, with your job being to hunt out and capture rogue creatures, people and objects that have escaped from the wizarding world.

It will use the same GPS and AR abilities as Pokemon GO, but players will also be able to access Portkeys in the AR world that will transport them to a completely virtual one. The virtual world will include infamous locations from the Harry Potter universe.

In March, we were given our first look at the app’s gameplay, leaving us even more anxious for a release date.

Now, in an epic and action-packed trailer, an official release date for the U.S. and UK has been revealed.

We’re so ready for June 21.
