Hayley Williams hid a Paramore nod in her RBG tribute performance

On Monday, Hayley Williams took part in a powerful tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The tribute included appearances from Hillary Rodham Clinton, Kesha and Senator Elizabeth Warren among others.

For her stripped-down performance, Williams performed “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris,” off her debut album Petals For Armor. Eagle-eyed fans, however, quickly noticed that Williams hid subtle nod to Paramore in her performance.

Williams confirmed last week that she was taking part in a tribute show to honor the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Following her sudden death back in September, RBG requested that her seat in the Supreme Court remain vacant until after the inauguration in January. However, Donald Trump made it clear that he will not be honoring this wish.

The Honor Her Wish RBG tribute on Monday was to both honor the late Supreme Court Justice and also demand that the Senate honor her dying wish. As well, the tribute coincided with the first day of the planned confirmation hearings for Trump’s pick to replace Ginsburg.

Williams was joined by various other performers for the tribute where she performed “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris.” The track is off of her debut solo album Petals For Armor that was released earlier this year.

Williams dedicated her performance to the women in her family who have overcome sexual and domestic abuse.

“I just want to dedicate this song to the woman in my family who overcame sexual and domestic violence,” she says at the start of her performance. “I want to send my heart out and deepest respect and gratitude to anyone who fights for the dignity and honor of victims of sexual and domestic violence.”

Shortly after kicking off her performance, however, eagle-eyed Paramore fans noticed something familiar. Williams was wearing her iconic bodysuit from the “Fake Happy” video. The song is off of Paramore’s latest album After Laughter.

Although Williams doesn’t acknowledge the Paramore nod in her performance, she did tease she was bringing it back. She posted a mirror selfie of her wearing the iconic video look on her Instagram story a few days ago.

Along with the bodysuit, Williams’ dog Alf also makes a cameo during the RBG tribute. To help bring “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris” to life, Williams was joined by Joey Howard. Howard is one of Paramore’s touring musicians and was a collaborator on Petals For Armor. As well, Becca Mancari and Aaron Steele joined in on guitar and drums.
