Hayley Williams belting the Used is the perfect emo throwback

Hayley Williams recently added to her story some of the greatest content we’ve seen in a while. The Paramore and solo singer uploaded a series of videos where she’s dancing around and singing “The Taste of Ink” by the Used.

Hayley Williams addressed the video to “that one guy on the internet who says he misses the old me.” In addition to singing an emo throwback, Williams also had one more surprise up her sleeve.

Williams has been busy working away at revealing songs off of her upcoming solo debut, Petals For Armor.

Williams shared the first track, “Simmer” off of upcoming record in January. The vocalist followed it up with “Leave It Alone” and “Cinnamon,” all of which continued to build upon a connected plot. The three tracks appeared on an EP, PETALS FOR ARMOR I, which is available here now.

Following that, she ended up dropping her highly-hyped boygenius collaboration “Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris.”

Following that, Hayley Williams dropped “Over Yet,” which she described as having “went from industrial/punk beat to Janet chorus REAL quick.”

Now, she’s returning to her roots by hopping around and belting “The Taste of Ink” by the Used.

In the series of Instagram videos, Williams is dancing the day away and makes sure to call out the “regression” that is taking place. Not only is Hayley Williams making us all nostalgic with song, she also dyed her hair orange-ish. In what seems to be even more of a throwback to her Riot!-era days, Williams is sporting those bright locks that we learned to love her for.

It could be that she’s representing one of her new Good Dye Young colors, Peach Fuzz, that she announced last week. Williams does tag her company and jokes about the throwback saying, “when you dye your hair but it dyes your bloodstream.”

Recently, Hayley Williams gave fans the heads up that she would likely be rescheduling her first-ever solo tour.

The update comes in response to numerous performers and festivals rescheduling or canceling their dates altogether in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
