Hear Miley Cyrus and Stevie Nicks team up for the ultimate mash-up

Miley Cyrus and Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks have teamed up for the ultimate mash-up we didn’t know we needed until now.

Together, they transformed Cyrus’ latest Plastic Hearts single “Midnight Sky” and Nicks’ “Edge Of Seventeen” for their new collaboration.

Cyrus has truly been showing off her musical influences over the past few months. She recently unveiled some iconic covers of both Blondie‘s “Heart Of Glass” and the Cranberries‘ “Zombie.” The latter cover even caught the attention of the band who praised the vocalist on social media. As well, Cyrus also confirmed that she is working on a Metallica cover album.

Now, Cyrus has teamed up with the legendary Stevie Nicks for the new mash-up “Edge Of Midnight.” The collab brings together Cyrus’ latest single and Nicks’ 1981 hit for an edgy mash-up that combines their powerful vocals and cross-genre influences.

Earlier this year, Cyrus confirmed the collaboration and recalled how she asked for Nicks’ approval.

“I sent her the song,” she said. “And I said, ‘I have an alternate melody, if you don’t want me to kind of like pay tribute to you and your greatness and how much you’ve inspired me. And she said, ‘You can borrow from me anytime.’”

“Edge of Midnight” is off of Cyrus’ forthcoming rock-inspired album Plastic Hearts which arrives on Nov. 27. Last month, the former Disney star revealed that the new LP is years in the making. After the California wildfires consumed her Malibu home, she lost the majority of the work she had done for the album. Following this, she completely started over and eventually created Plastic Hearts.

“I began this album over 2 years ago,” she said. “Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record with its songs and sounds but my whole fucking life. But no one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the music’s relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed.”

Cyrus also previously revealed that Metallica are one of the artists that heavily inspired Plastic Hearts.

“In my sets, I cover Britney Spears to Metallica,” she said. “So my record will be reflective of who I am, which is just kind of all different pieces of inspiration and influence.”

As for Nicks, she just unveiled her new single “Show Them The Way” which features drumming from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. She is also adapting Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” into a limited series which she hopes will star Harry Styles.
