Here’s what Alex Gaskarth had to say on the future of Simple Creatures

It’s been a year since we last heard new music from Alex Gaskarth and Mark Hoppus‘ side project Simple Creatures.

Now, Gaskarth has finally revealed what’s in store for Simple Creatures and why they haven’t released new music in 2020.

When Gaskarth and Hoppus dropped Simple Creatures’ first song in January 2019, the project quickly became the emo collaboration we never knew we needed. Since the release of “Drug,” the duo have unveiled two EPs Strange Love and Everything Opposite.

Since then, however, Simple Creatures seemed to go a bit quiet. Naturally, this was to be expected since Gaskarth’s main band All Time Low dropped their latest album Wake Up, Sunshine earlier this year. As well, blink-182 are hard at work on their next release following the debut of their recent singleQuarantine” this summer.

Not to mention, Hoppus just kick-started his own radio show After School Radio. So clearly, 2020 has been a busy year for both Gaskarth and Hoppus. However, Gaskarth has finally given an update on the future of Simple Creatures.

The vocalist recently chatted with Loudwire Nights where he reassured fans that the duo plans to release new music in the future.

“There absolutely will be more music and more Simple Creatures to come,” he said.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Simple Creatures were forced to change their plans for 2020 which is why fans haven’t heard from them in a while.

“We had all these plans, we had music kicking around,” he continues. “Then COVID hit, and it’s obviously shaken the year up and plans have had to change, naturally.”

Gaskarth further shares that he and Hoppus plan to finish up a few songs soon. When will that happen? Well, he’s still not sure.

“We need to kind of find that moment where we can get together in a studio and button up a couple of songs, and see where it goes from there.”

In the meantime, Gaskarth is still enjoying All Time Low’s success with Wake Up, Sunshine. “Monsters,” their collaboration with blackbear on the album, has been sitting at the coveted top spot on the Alternative Airplay chart for a staggering seven weeks. This feat marks All Time Low’s first No.1 on Alternative Radio.
