Hey Monday play first show in 8 years with A Rocket To The Moon, more

Hey Monday began teasing us in October on the 11-year anniversary of the band’s debut album Hold On Tight. In the weeks that followed, vocalist Cassadee Pope announced a “#HeyItsMonday pop-punk night” in Nashville at the Exit/In to take place on Nov. 25. She later confirmed with AltPress that Hey Monday would be having a reunion at the pop-punk night.

Hey Monday had been on a hiatus since December 2011, but that all ended last night. Pope, Mike Gentile and Alex Lipshaw took the stage, along with a few other surprise guests.

According to a setlist posted to his Instagram story, Mae lead singer Dave Elkins took the stage to perform “The Ocean” and “Let it Die.” Topher Talley from the Bigger Lights was among one of the firsts of the special guests in the lineup. While not in attendance, Ryan Seaman from iDKHOW played drums for The Bigger Lights before leaving the band in 2011. Talley performed their song “Closer” followed by Danny Stevens from the Audition playing “Approach the Bench.” The Audition disappeared from the scene in 2012 before reuniting at Slam Dunk in 2018.

Justin Richards of Brighten played “Ready When You Are” before reuniting with his A Rocket To The Moon bandmate Nick Santino for “Dakota.” A Rocket To The Moon called it quits in 2013, but reunited in 2017 for a performance at 8123 Fest hosted by the Maine.

A. Jay and Jeremy Popoff from Lit took the stage to perform two songs followed by All American Rejects guitarist Nick Wheeler and Pope joining forces to perform “Swing, Swing” and “Dirty Little Secret.”

You can watch clips from the night below.

Fans quickly took to social media to share the excitement they had experienced throughout the evening.

Following the eventful night, Pope took to her Instagram story to share clips from the evening, express her love for her fans and to reassure everyone that this will happen again.

Oh my god. I feel like I just woke up from a dream or something. I have a little bit of a headache and my feet hurt but my soul is full of happiness and my heart is full of love. Tonight was so special. Tonight was the Hey It’s Monday show, the Hey Monday Reunion/ I had a lot of special guests come up and they were surprise guests. To see the crowds’ reactions to every person that came up there,  it was just a beautiful thing. So as soon as I get some pictures and videos and what not, I’ll start sharing. Until then, just know that if you were there, I appreciate the shit out of you. If you weren’t there, I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen again because it was really fun. I love you guys so much. Yay!
