P!ATD’s Highest Hopes Foundation recognized for human rights advocacy
Panic! At The Disco’s Highest Hopes Foundation has just been recognized by the city of Providence, Rhode Island for their advocacy and human rights achievements. Addressed to Brendon Urie, the mayor of Providence, as well as Councilwoman Carmen Castillo, recognized the Highest Hopes Foundation for their work with marginalized youth.
Today, Urie took to Twitter to share the news, which was being compiled by Providence City Council over the past few months.
The documents enclosed in the award include a Resolution of the City Council, an official citation and a heartfelt letter from Mayor Jorge Elorza.
“I, Jorge O. Elorza, Mayor of the City of Providence, do hereby confer upon you this citation in recognition of your advocacy and dedication to all people and communities who are subject to discrimination and abuse on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity. Your commitment to your foundation, The Highest Hope Foundation, through which you lead, develop and advocate for human rights, and your participation in the “The State Farm Neighborhood of Good” program, where you use your energy, experience and influence to help kids at the Boys and Girls Club build their confidence, as they grow and dream into what they want to be, and your High Hopes message that has inspired people of all ages to keep reaching for their dreams, has earned you the admiration and respect of many. I am joined by the people of Providence in applauding you and in offering our sincere congratulations, with very best wishes for continued success in all your future endeavors.”
Over the course of the Pray For The Wicked tour, Urie has included many extra assets to help the Highest Hopes Foundation. For example, the Amazing Beebo, a mini-Brendon puppet, is currently telling fans their fortunes on the tour.
