Highly Suspect return to music with first new tracks since 2016

Highly Suspect have made their triumphant return by dropping two new songs from their upcoming album.

The band have been teasing their return to music all week. They haven’t put out a full-length album since 2016’s The Boy Who Died Wolf.

Highly Suspect have been teasing us for well over two weeks with an ominous countdown clock that we knew could only mean something great was coming.

Now, we know that it was leading to the announcement of their album with two new songs. The album will be called MCID and is available for pre-order now.

The new album will include features from artists such as Young Thug, Tee Grizzley, Gojira and Nothing But Thieves, so it will be a bit more experimental genre-wise. A release date has yet to be announced.

“The themes include self loathing, substance abuse, image issues, addressing my past and changing my future, with a sprinkle of anti-Trump, false social media worship, heartbreak, hope, depression and suicide,” frontman Johnny Stevens said of the album. “There are also a few references to the pressures of fame and how I won’t play into it.”

The two new songs they have debuted are called “16” and “Upperdrugs.” They definitely showcase the sound the band is aiming for with this record and we can’t wait to hear more.

“16” is about going through your first love and heartbreak and what it’s like when your first long-term relationship comes to an end. It is the lead single on the album. Listen to the new tracks below.

The band also announced a series of tour dates with Slothrust. You can see the band’s full list of upcoming dates below as well as preorder tickets here.
