2020 has been a big year for both Charli XCX and Hot Mulligan. Back in May, Charli XCX dropped her album how i'm feeling now while Hot Mulligan debuted you'll be fine in March.

As it turns out, both albums being released in 2020 isn't the only similarity they share. This week, Hot Mulligan brought to light that two of their songs sound quite similar to each other. Now, the band are sharing their thoughts on if they think a chord progression for "BCKYRD" was lifted in Charli XCX's "enemy."

Shortly after the tweet, Hot Mulligan followed up and noted that they hear a similarity in the chord progression of both songs. Although the chord progression isn't a direct lift from "BCKYRD," it was close enough for Hot Mulligan to notice.

"I’m not insinuating the chord progression was lifted or that we invented it (lmao)," the tweet says. "They’re not even the same in the first place, just similar."

Hot Mulligan go on to say that it's unlikely Charli XCX has even heard their song. As well, the two songs would probably make for a killer mashup.
