How long will Warped Tour continue to last? Founder Kevin Lyman offers response

Warped Tour is synonymous with our scene. Every summer, people all across North America flock to the traveling festival when it arrives in their town, ready for a full day of watching their favorite bands play music.

Nonetheless, the question of Warped’s longevity has been brought up more so in recent years than ever before. Its first official outing took place in 1995—over two decades ago. Punk Out recently spoke with founder Kevin Lyman, who briefly addressed what the future looks like as of right now.

“It might disappear, but I think someone could step up to do it,” said Lyman. “I wish maybe someone would. Maybe one of these young people would come up to me and say, 'I’m ready to take over.' But I’ll keep doing it for a while I think.”

Among other things, Lyman and Punk Out’s interview revealed that the tour is registering an average of 175 people per show to vote in the upcoming election.

“I don’t need to tell you that it’s an election year,” he said. “We have Head Count on the tour with us, and they’ve gotten an average of 175 people per show registered to vote.”
