Hurricane Matthew jeopardizes tours—artists react and show support
Hurricane Matthew had plenty of people worried this week—so much so, that some artists had to cancel their shows for threats of dangerous weather. However, others—such as Sum 41, Pierce The Veil, Set It Off and Against Me!—have been luckier than others.
Kelly Kapp, senior vice president at House of Blues Entertainment Talent with LiveNation, tells AP about the importance of tracking the storm closely to assess any safety threats.

”We have so many tours that we had to look out for between Sum 41, Pierce The Veil and Bad Religion with Against Me!” she says. “Our biggest concern is always the safety of the bands and fans and I am happy to report that through the diligence of many local Florida, Georgia and Carolina offices we had an intricate system of how to track and report through the storm scare. As of this morning we are absolutely thrilled that the storm had just hugged the coastline and as of right now we will not have to cancel any shows.”
According to Billboard, EDM duo the Chainsmokers postponed their show in Miami yesterday, Insane Clown Posse cancelled their show today in Jacksonville, Henry Rollins cancelled three shows (Oct. 6, Oct. 8 and Oct. 9) and Dirty Heads postponed their show on Saturday at the Myrtle Beach House Of Blues.
Other artists with cancellations include Garth Brooks, Skid Row and Luke Bryan.
Sum 41 are in the first leg of their Don’t Call It A Sum-Back Tour in Florida with a show tonight in Ft. Lauderdale. Set It Off, who—like Sum 41—released a new album on Oct. 7, are in Florida as well.
Pierce The Veil are on their Made To Destroy tour with a stop today in Atlanta, Georgia, Orlando on Saturday and Tampa on Sunday. Tourmates Neck Deep had to cancel their show yesterday in Wilmington, North Carolina, because of evacuations brought on by the storm.
Against Me! have stops in Charlottesville, Virginia, today; Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday; and Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday.
