Idris Elba is playing Coachella, the internet is confused

Coachella officially dropped their full 2019 lineup after beginning to release artists one-by-one last night. Actor Idris Elba is among those announced, and it’s sending the internet into a tizzy.

Most notably, Elba has appeared as Heimdall in Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War.

The actor has also portrayed characters in The Dark Tower, Star Trek: Beyond, Finding Dory, The Jungle Book, Zootopia, Beasts Of No Nation and many more.

While many know Elba for his acting, even more are just learning he’s also a DJ thanks to the lineup announcement.

Some thought it must be a different Idris Elba…

While others were simply mind blown over the discovery…

And some didn’t care what he was doing at Coachella, they were here for it regardless…

While Elba’s name appears as is on the festival’s lineup, he has gone by other names such as DJ Big Driis and Big Driis the Londoner.

Elba later confirmed his set by tweeting a simple, “See you in the desert.”

In perhaps the smartest marketing move ever, today Netflix also announced Elba will be starring in Turn Up Charlie as “a struggling DJ turned nanny.”

The show premieres March 15, and you can catch Elba onstage at Coachella Saturday April 13 and 20.

The 1975, Juice WRLD, King Princess and the Interrupters will also hit the stage Friday across both weekends.

Coachella’s first weekend kicks off April 12-14, and the second weekend will be April 19-21. Both weekends will be in Indio, California.
