Maria Brink calls on fellow witches to channel the moon’s energy for BLM
Amidst the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests following the wrongful death of George Floyd, In This Moment‘s Maria Brink is now showing her support.
In a new social media post, the vocalist is calling upon her community of witches, shamans, spiritualists and various healers to use the upcoming full moon as a chance to bring justice to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Brink has been open about her spirituality over the years especially within In This Moment. In March, she revealed in an interview with AP all of the steps she takes to maintain a healthy spiritual balance in her life and when creating music.
Now, she is calling upon all of her fellow witches to stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement on June 5. This particular day happens to be when the supermoon arrives in some parts of the world.
“Global action will be taken on the supermoon of June 5 by witches, shamans, brujas, rootworkers, spiritualists and every other practitioner and/or occultist,” she says. “On the supermoon of June 5, we call everybody to focus your intent, do spellwork, light a candle, do what you find necessary to send protection, do healing and bring justice to injustice everywhere. Let’s help end this sh*t. From the inexperienced to the experienced, let’s all join together.”

June 5’s moon is a “strawberry” full moon which refers to the fact that this moon will pass into Earth’s outer shadow in space, giving it a warm hue. It will be visible to observers in Asia, Africa and Australia, but not directly visible in America. Over half of the moon will be covered by Earth’s shadow during this event.
According to Najah Lightfoot, author of Good Juju: Mojos, Rites and Practices for the Magical Soul, the full moon’s energy will allow you to work further towards your life goals.
“[It] gives a boost to anything you are targeting, or goals you are trying to reach,” she explains.
In other words, this moon will likely cause a high-energy period for some. Some many feel the need to work harder, chase goals or even take some risks. So, Brink and other spiritual healers encourage everyone to channel the moon’s energy to bring justice and spread awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Other individuals in the music industry have shown their support for Black Lives Matter and the George Floyd protests. Halsey and YUNGBLUD have been joining the protests in California. Machine Gun Kelly and blink-182‘s Travis Barker joined forces with protesters for a Rage Against The Machine cover.
As well, Creeper, Every Time I Die and Code Orange are auctioning off rare items and donating proceeds to BLM and various organizations. On June 3, FEVER 333 did a live performance livestream and raised thousands of dollars for the movement. Set It Off, Nothing, Nowhere. and Emo Nite have also raised money through livestreams.
