Instagram, Facebook go down worldwide again in an outage-filled summer
Instagram is down for the fourth time this summer causing major outrage online by social media users.
According to users, new posts will not load in their feeds and they are unable to view their friends’ stories on the app. People are also saying its parent company Facebook is down as well.
Facebook users are reporting that live videos weren't working, while others couldn't log in at all. Some Instagram users also said they were unable to log into their accounts.
Instagram went down twice in June, while Facebook and sister company WhatsApp were also experiencing issues very early into July.See how people are reacting to the apps being down again this summer.
Both companies has yet to make a statement about the outages.
It looks like a new Instagram feature may soon be on the way that seems pretty comparable to the macOS and iOS Photo Booth app.
App researcher Jane Manchun Wong uncovered the unreleased feature that essentially places the user in front of a “green screen.”
Wong took to Twitter to share a couple of screenshots from the feature, which is apparently called “Background.”The feature will allow users to select a photo from their camera roll and use it as a background for their Stories camera.
It’s currently unclear if users will be able to use videos as a background or if it is limited to static images only.
Wong also uncovered an AR sticker effect in the works.
The release date for the feature is unknown, but we are eager to see how users will bring this “green screen” effect to life.
