This Halloween, Angry Birds creator Rovio Entertainment is paying tribute to veteran metal icons Iron Maiden by making the band's infamous mascot Eddie The Head a playable character in Angry Birds Evolution.

Time to launch some birds at pigs, y'all… metalhead birds!

That's right, Iron Maiden's Eddie character will be transformed into “Eddie The Bird” in what the video game maker is calling an “epic Halloween collaboration” with the English heavy metal band. Check out a spooky preview video of Angry Birds Evolution's monstrous Eddie The Bird creation in action below.

“Our team is filled with massive Iron Maiden fans and Eddie was both our first choice and a natural fit in Angry Birds Evolution,” says Rovio's Miika Tams. “It's about time his status as a true worldwide rock icon was celebrated and we know that fans will love seeing Eddie The Bird raise hell on Bird Island!”

Angry Birds Evolution players have their shot at recruiting Eddie The Bird on their team beginning Oct. 18 during a special two-week event. Reportedly, anyone who recruits Eddie during the run will get to keep him indefinitely!

Additionally, the game's Bird Island will be transformed into a Halloween-themed metal haven to house what will be four period-specific iterations (to “represent different albums from Iron Maiden's storied history”) of Eddie.

Anyway, we sure can't wait to play this in the bathroom!
