Joining Lillis and Leakey will be Black Mirror star Charles Babalola as the hunter, and Alice Krige and Jessica De Gouw as the two evil witches. The film will be directed by horror veteran Osgood Perkins.

According to CinemaBlend, filming of Hansel and Gretel will start this week in Dublin. The remake will focus heavily on Gretel’s part and center her as the leading sibling.

There is no release date set on the film as of yet, but we can expect to see more details coming soon. However, Screenrant reported that Orion Pictures released a short synopsis of what is to come:

A long time ago in a distant fairytale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

Originally based on Brothers Grimm’s fairytale, the story was first adapted as an opera. Additionally, the story had its fair share of other adaptations. Among these adaptations include Tim Burton’s short movie in 1983, which aired only once on Disney Channel according to Screenrant, and a twisted Korean version in 2007. In the meantime, check out the trailer for 2013’s remake Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters below.

Additionally, Lillis is set to reprise her role as Bev in It: Chapter Two, which will feature the Losers’ Club as full-grown adults, much like the original flick. Jessica Chastain will play the adult Bev. It: Chapter Two is slated to release Sept. 6, 2019.
