'It' miniseries' original Georgie to return in short film
Jackson Robert Scott played little Georgie Denbrough in last year’s It, the successful Stephen King adaptation bringing the horror master’s trademark style into a new era of entertainment. But now, the Georgie from 1990’s It television miniseries is reportedly staking a comeback in an upcoming short film, according to Bloody Disgusting.

That’s right, actor Tony Dakota—who portrayed the brave little brother taunted by Tim Curry’s Pennywise the Clown nearly 30 years ago—will bring the original Georgie Denbrough “back to life” in Georgie, the forthcoming short from filmmaker Ryan Grulic and co-producer John Campopiano that serves as an unofficial sequel to the classic series.
“GEORGIE is now wrapped and we’ll soon be moving into post-production,” Campopiano reports to BD. “Working on this short film project has been a dream come true. … Collaborating with Tony Dakota on this fever dream story was surreal and very rewarding. Our West Coast crew who helped make this idea a reality were all top notch.”
The film will be Dakota’s first acting role in 25 years. Not to mention, co-star Ben Heller, who played young Stanley Uris in the 1990 It miniseries, will also return in the upcoming quick pic. And it sounds like it’s going to be one wild ride.
“GEORGIE is an intentionally disorienting film,” Campopiano adds of his It redux. “The production was no different. All I can say now is that taking this film from concept to wrap was a super wild ride. The most intense short film I’ve worked on.”
Not quite coincidentally, the producer has another new It project up his sleeve: A forthcoming documentary called Pennywise: The Story Of It is also in the works from the filmmaker. What do you think? Sound off in the comments!
