It looks like Chris Fehn’s lawsuit against Slipknot is finally over

It appears that former Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn has dropped his lawsuit against the band.

Fehn was suing Slipknot over claims that he was not properly compensated for his years of touring and recording with the group.

Fehn had been a member of Slipknot since 1998. However, he was dismissed from the group just last year. Shortly after, he filed a lawsuit against his former band that quickly turned ugly. He was suing for two counts of “breach of fiduciary duty,” one count of “unjust enrichment” and one count of “breach of implied in fact contract.”

Fehn’s lawsuit was against two different versions of Slipknot, Inc., both in New York and Los Angeles. It’s also against Knot Merch LLC,  Knot Touring LLC, SK Productions, LLC; Knot Touring LLC, Shawn “Clown” Crashawhan, Corey Taylor, manager Robert Shore and Shore’s law firm, Rob Shore & Associates, Inc.

Back in September 2019, both Taylor and Crahan called for the lawsuit to be dismissed. This began shortly after Fehn was let go from the band back in March. However, in January 2020, it was revealed that this motion was likely to be denied.

Now, it looks like the case has been dropped. According to a new document, Fehn has withdrawn the lawsuit against Slipknot. A document filed with the New York Supreme Court pulled back Fehn’s entire complaint with prejudice. This means that he won’t seek to re-litigate the same argument in court and won’t seek any assistance with legal funds from Slipknot.

“Plaintiff CHRISTOPHER FEHN, by and through his undersigned counsel, and pursuant to NY CPLR § R3217(1), hereby affirms that the above-entitled action, be and the same is, hereby discontinued as against ALL DEFENDANTS, with prejudice and without costs to any party and this notice may be filed with the Clerk of the Court without further notice.”

Back in September, legal reports stated that the suit was in meditation which led many to assume that Slipknot were planning to settle with Fehn. If the two parties did agree on a settlement, neither disclosed any information or details about the agreement.

Following Fehn’s dismissal from the band last year, his lawyer made it known that he was still technically an employee of Slipknot. In fact, in September 2019, Fehn voiced his hope to potentially return to the metal group “someday.” However, Slipknot’s manager later disputed the claim Fehn was involved in the band’s business.

Slipknot quickly made it known that they have no intention of working with Fehn again. In May 2019, Slipknot introduced their new member before the release of We Are Not Your Kind. The replacement musician soon became known as “Tortilla Man” by fans. A small mistake on the band’s merch website seemingly revealed Tortilla Man’s true identity in August.
