Jared Leto will play Andy Warhol in new biopic

After his recent appearance in The Suicide Squad, Jared Leto will be returning to the screen to play Andy Warhol in a new biopic, which Leto will also be producing. (via The Guardian)

The film, entitled Warhol, will tell the life of the pop artist, using Victor Bockris’s 1989 book Warhol: The Biography as a guide for the screenplay, which will be written by Terrence Winter, who’s worked on such films as The Wolf Of Wall Street.

Warhol rose to fame in the 1960s through his concept of “pop art”—paintings that focused on mass-produced commercial goods—and, according to The Guardian, was also openly gay at a time when homosexuality wasn’t readily accepted.

Leto has also been added to the cast of Blade Runner 2 with the likes of Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford and is believed to be reprising the role of the Joker in next year’s Justice League.
