Johnny Depp reportedly pays someone to feed him lines

According to Consequence Of Sound, back in January, Johnny Depp sued his former representatives, The Management Group, for allegedly collecting “$28 million in contingent fees he never agreed to,” acting in ways that were “otherwise financially irresponsible.”

However, they’re firing back, saying “the actor's financial woes are all his own,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. One of his most notable tidbits? The fact that he may not even memorize his own lines, paying a sound engineer “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to “feed him lines on set.”

“Depp insisted that this sound engineer be kept on yearly retainer so that he no longer had to memorize his lines,” writes attorney Michael Kump, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

And that’s not the only outlandish purchase The Management Group have cited, saying he has purchased “14 residences, 45 luxury vehicles, 70 collectible guitars and enough Hollywood memorabilia to fill 12 storage facilities,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, who say his sense of entitlement is “clear and epic.”

“Depp's extravagant spending has often been marked by a lack of impulse control,” says Kump, The Hollywood Reporter reports. “In retrospect, it appears that Depp may suffer from a compulsive spending disorder, which will be proven in this action through a mental examination of Depp… and expert testimony. On information and belief, Depp's flagrant bragging about his senseless and extreme spending to The Wall Street Journal is further evidence of his psychological issues.”

In his article with The Wall Street Journal, he says it was their negligence and fraud that caused him to lose tens of millions of dollars over more than a decade.

“Why didn't they drop me as a client if I was so out of control?” Depp told the Wall Street Journal. “I've worked very, very hard for a lot of years and trusted a lot of people, some who've clearly let me down.”

Yet, according to The Hollywood Reporter, The Wall Street Journal story features him boasting about his money, saying “If I want to buy 15,000 cotton balls a day, it’s my thing.”

If anything’s clear, this lawsuit won’t be settled anytime soon.
