'Jumanji' remake director reportedly confirmed

The last Jumanji movie, starring the now-passed Robin Williams, came out in 1995. Hollywood has decided that it's time for a remake, and it looks like Jake Kasdan has been taken on to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Scott Rosenberg, known best for Kangaroo Jack, has signed on to write script.

Kasdan is the son of Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote the screenplay for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Jake Kasdan has his directing credits on Freaks And Geeks, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Bad Teacher and Sex Tape. The movie is slated for a 2016 release, with a rumored Christmas Day premiere.

Just like the original movie and its preceding children's book, the premise of Jumanji features a jungle-themed board game that comes to life.
