Kanye West drops off Coachella lineup after disagreement with stage setup

Following the news that Kanye West may be eyeing a 2024 presidential campaign run, a new round of reports suggests that the rapper may have bigger issues to deal with, at least for the time being.

West was apparently expected to headline this year’s Coachella, yet, it appears that the rapper and the festival couldn’t come to an agreement, forcing West to drop off the show completely.

According to a new report from TMZ, West decided against performing at this year’s festival due to the festival’s 40×60 foot stage setup…yeah.

As it’s noted in the report, the reason for West deciding to leave was due to the “artistically limiting” size of the stage.

A source that’s close to the rapper recently spoke to TMZ about the situation, where they shared that: “These 40×60 stages are so archaic. It’s the same type of stage on which Shakespeare’s works were performed hundreds of years ago.”

West recently finished up his Saint Pablo tour, which, as TMZ reports, left the rapper wanting to give his fans a more “groundbreaking” type of show, rather than just another stage performance.

An admirable goal, but one that was just out of reach for the upcoming festival.

The festival’s organizers, Goldenvoice, soon chimed in, where they decided that Coachella would not be able to fulfill West’s wishes for a more elaborate stage design. As they note, they didn’t want to affect the level of the performances of any of the other acts, just because he wanted a better design.

So, due to this fact, the company and the rapper decided to mutually part ways.

It’s unclear as to who will be replacing Kanye as the tour’s headliner, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been rumors of people who may be performing (like Rihanna or Childish Gambino!)

What do you think of this news? Should Kanye have dropped off the festival over the stage design? Let us know by sounding off in the comments below!
