Kanye West says God wanted him to crash Taylor Swift’s VMAs speech

For those that need a little refresh, West crashed Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Swift was picking up the Best Female Video award for “You Belong With Me” when West stormed the stage and grabbed the mic. He then used the moment to say that Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” should’ve won the award.

“Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”

Now, after a decade long feud, West is bringing up the infamous moment again. During Cannon’s podcast, West reflects back on the incident and suggests that God wanted him to interrupt Swift’s speech.

“Right now, God is giving me the information and he ain’t give me no other information. So that means he wants me to say this now,” West shares.

He goes on to say that if God didn’t want him to storm the stage, West wouldn’t have been sitting in the front row by the stage.

“If God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row,” he continues. “I would’ve been sitting in the back and they would’ve made it the first award and he wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous, because I had never heard of this person before and ‘Single Ladies’ is one of the greatest videos of all time.”

During the podcast, West also addresses the rumors that he was drunk during the 2009 MTV awards. It was claimed that West was intoxicated after he was seen carrying around a bottle of Hennessy throughout the night.

“I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn’t want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up,” he says.

Since the 2009 MTV VMAs incident, West and Swift’s ongoing feud has remained in the media. Swift is rumored to have written multiple songs about West including “Innocent,” which fans believe is about the infamous VMAs moment.

West also discusses his presidential campaign in Cannon’s Class. West announced his plans to run for president back in July. Since then, theories sparked that his decision is in efforts to help Trump get re-elected. As well, many believe he is being paid to do so.
