Hear Kesha's “Eat the Acid” and “Fine Line” from forthcoming 'Gag Order' LP

Kesha has shared the first two singles from her new album Gag Order with “Eat the Acid” and “Fine Line.”

The Rick Rubin-produced tracks, which were previously released on Soundcloud, show Kesha moving in a more experimental pop direction.

On the haunting “Eat the Acid,” Kesha alludes to the emotional few years she had and the legal battle she’s been embroiled in with Dr. Luke: “You said don’t ever eat the acid/ If you don’t want to be changed like you changed me/ You said all the edges got so jagged/ Now everything you saw then can’t be unseen.”

“Fine Line” also mines similar emotions as the 36-year-old musician sings, “Don’t be surprised if shit gets ugly/ All the doctors and lawyers that cut the tongue out of my mouth/ I’ve been hiding my anger, but bitch, look at me now/ I’m at the top of the mountain with a gun in my head/ Am I bigger than Jesus, or better off dead?”

In a statement alongside the album announcement, Kesha described here new album as “post-pop.” She added, “I believe an artist gives voice, motion, color to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones.”

Kesha’s new album Gag Order is set to arrive on May 19th.
