Here’s why Ace Frehley will not be rejoining KISS for New Year’s Eve
Although rumours have stirred around original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley rejoining the group for a reunion show leading into their farewell plans, excited fans are going to have to hold their applause for now.
In a statement posted to the guitarist's official Facebook page, Frehley shoots down rumours he was asked to join for a New Year's Eve performance in Dubai.
The band is in the midst of their farewell tour which has been delayed due to the pandemic. Although shows with fans present are unable to happen right now, they intend to host a livestream event unlike any other during 2020.
In the livestream, they'll have a 250-foot stage, 50 cameras shooting the show in 4k and enough fire and explosions that the band hopes is setting the Guinness World Record for the biggest-ever pyro show.
“The best way to shut everybody up and get everybody to enjoy life right now is to make a big resounding noise and shake the heavens with some pyro,” Gene Simmons says to Rolling Stone in an exclusive.
Since their farewell was announced, rumours have been kicking up that Paul Stanley and Simmons will be joined by the other two original members, Frehley and drummer Peter Criss.
With the New Year's Eve show coming up, Ace Frehley confirmed he was not asked to participate. Instead, he's working on a new solo studio album in Nashville.
Contrary to online statements, Ace Frehley was not asked to and will not be appearing with KISS at their New Year’s Eve...
Earlier this year, Frehley told SiriusXM's Eddy Trunk that "everything's cool" between him, Stanley and Simmons though rejoining would come at a cost.
"What's gonna happen is gonna happen. But everything is delayed at this juncture, so who knows? … I'm doing my own thing. Unless they come forward and the price is right, you're not gonna see me anywhere close by," he said.
KISS' New Year's Eve livestream event can be watched here tomorrow (Dec 31).
