Simmons says that he hates the song not because of its smooth and passionate connotation, but because of his set of lyrics. In an interview with OK! Magazine, he claims that his part on the song reminds him of his grandmother.

While pitching song ideas to guitarist Paul Stanley back in the day, Simmons goes on to describe how the band divvied up parts to his least favorite KISS hit.

“‘Okay, what’s my part?,’ Simmons recalls asking Stanley. In the interview, the bassist then imitates his bandmate by singing,  “’Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do.”

“You’re killing me,” Simmons says. “Really? I’m gonna sing like my grandmother?”

Additionally, Simmons says that even despite hating the song back in the ‘70s, he still hates it 40 years later.

“I hate playing that song to this day,” Simmons says. “Stadiums full of people jump up and down like biblical locusts — they go nuts — with tattoos and grilles on. They’re all jumping up and down, and I’m going, ‘Do, do, do, do, do, do… Kill me now.’ Still, still to this day, I hate that song.”

Ouch.

KISS has big plans to go on one more tour before calling it quits. The band’s farewell tour has plans to span over three years and start in 2019, according to Simmons. While there are still more details to come, Stanley advises fans that this will be their best and final opportunity to see KISS live.

“It will be the most explosive, biggest show we’ve ever done,” Stanley says in a story with Loudwire. “People who love us, come see us. If you’ve never seen us, this is the time. This will be the show.”
